Dental savings plans are a great alternative to dental insurance. Dental savings plans are not insurance but work like Costco or Sam’s club, where you pay an annual membership fee, usually $100-$150 for an individual and $160-$300 for a family plan. You can enjoy discounts 10%- 60% off services. There is no cap on the services for the year and there is no waiting per or limitation on pre-existing conditions. Have several plans that your dentist may accept.
Most dental plans will include your preventative appointments and will give you a small discount on dental services.
Individual vision and dental plans are available.
Many plans have waiting period when you enroll. Some plans will waive waiting period, if you have had dental insurance in the last 30-60 days. Usually, the waiting periods are 6 months for fillings and other more minor services and one year for major services such as crowns and extractions. There are other plans that have no waiting periods, but coverage becomes more comprehensive each year.
